Pilates

The Pilates Method is a unique and highly sophisticated form of integrative exercise that has been changing bodies and lives for nearly a century.

Joseph Pilates studied eastern and western exercise disciplines and combined what he saw as the best of both. The resulting six principles of Pilates are Control, Concentration, Centering, Precision, Breath and Flow.

Whilst many forms of Pilates exist today, at Kinesis the initial emphasis is on building a strong, supported, yet supple spine. Gradually the entire body is challenged to connect into this strength. As a result the whole body becomes more integrated and powerful.

Pilates can dramatically transform the way your body looks, improve body awareness, confidence, core stability and posture. It is designed to increase strength and flexibility; streamlining muscles rather than adding bulk.

Engaging your mind and body to increase awareness, concentration and integration, Pilates also improves mental well-being, reducing stress, increasing energy, improving circulation and enhancing breath control and hormonal balance.

When taught professionally the Pilates method is appropriate for any age or fitness level and can address many different types of injury whilst also combatting ageing and aiding weight loss. It has also proved extremely successful before, during and after pregnancy.

 The benefits of Pilates include:

  • Tone and build long, lean muscles without bulk
  • Improve strength, flexibility and balance
  • Better balance and co-ordination
  • Improved posture
  • Assist Pregnancy
  • Encourage healthy ageing
  • Relief from chronic back pain
  • Reduce stress, relieve tension, boost energy
  • Compliment sports training
